Are you changing your clocks for electric ones and keeping the same gearbox? Need more info on your scenario!

The F20 gearbox should already be running a mechanical cog inside to drive your clocks - there would be no need to change to electric?

If you are doing it just to purely get electric clocks - you would to have to add wiring into the loom in the engine and to the back of the clocks, and also purchase the mechanical to electrical transducer, and you will have to go to a scrappie to find the plug to fit it :

i have a transducer from astra digi clocks and that plug with a couple of inches of wiring. so basically the only difference between cable and electric clocks is 3 extra wires going into the multi plug in the back of the clocks?

Correct - however you may need to check the Haynes manual for the wiring info to the pins on the back of the clocks - as the clocks may output the electrical reading to the ECU and MFD.

What's your reasoning behind doing this? Changing the clocks will naff up your mileage

No problem - make sure you take a picture of your old clocks and include it with your service history - as come MOT time if the mileage is less than what your old clocks were - they will ask questions!
