It is meant for small capacity engines but can be fitted to bigger engines. You can get a bypass valve, so at higher RPMs the ESC doesn't cause a restriction as everyone knows they can't keep up.
It is used for low RPM torque boost and economy.
You never know in 10 years they might perfect these things.
Only weird thing I noticed is you must need a massive alternator, which causes more drag, which means more fuel.

would it not cancel itself out if that makes sense? its a small supercharger which needs a bigger pulley/alternator.

could you not get a smaller alternator pulley to make the alternator spin more? that could help it out a little.
