The colour change looks a little flat, but i do like the red and black theme. Liking the headlights too.

the colour change was the thing i was most disappointed with aswell, i just couldn't get it to look right. any tips on how to make it look better? cheers for the vote

Every car is different due to the brightness and contrast of the original paint, so generally every method of changing paint realistically is different.
The best bet is to play about with different layers and blending options. Sometimes my colour changes will have up to 15 or 20 layers.

15 or 20 layers? 
I usually copy the car's body/the paint I want to change onto a new layer and use variations, or if that doesn't work then the hue/saturation might come into play. If that doesn't work then colour replace brush
