Hey everyone,

Been here for about two years now and not really had much opportunity to do any proper work on my cars, so the W.I.P. Threads have not been very good.

My Corsa was swapped for our Passat while my partner was pregnant. That’s not the only projects i Have had on the go though.

Brief Beginning

My partner moved in here with her Ex about 5 1/2 Years ago and the house was a Shed...
Forced to move in here due to the housing list, the house was as Listed.

  • No Floors
  • Condemned Kitchen
  • No Bath
  • Damp Throughout
  • Rot Everywhere
  • All Floors down and up Were Uneven
  • Big hole in Wall From Kitchen - Living Room
  • Leaking windows
  • Non-Working Stairlift
  • Handrail up the stairs was very wobbly
  • THE LIST GOES ON

My partner sorted most of the problems out herself when she moved in
But some things could not be done as the monthly budget didn‘t stretch that far.

Not only that, it’s a Council house. So she wasn’t going to rip walls down and go mental.

We decided that moving in together would be a better idea as we could pay bills easier at her place + also she has THE RIGHT TO BUY.

When I was moving in I noticed Damp walls in our bedroom as I was moving furniture ( furniture with lots of stuff on top ) I spoke with her that Night + it turns out that she had been calling the housing company NON-STOP about the stuff that needed doing and they were not going to do the work.

I asked If she wanted me to deal with it all and from then on.. THE WAR BEGAN

  • Took lots of Pictures
  • Called The Company
  • Told Them What WAS going to get done
  • Gave them a Deadline
  • And Waited…

    Pictures

    The Living room:
The wall leading from the Kitchen to the Living room was butchered by a previous tenant. when the house was built there was only one entrance to the living room, through the door. lol

As It was before we started.

    Down Stairs Toilet

    Kitchen Before

Prior to work getting done this room was our room it's now our daughters room

As the house was Adapted for Disabilities before my partnet moved in, there was a sliding door to the Bathroom.

    Not Ideal

    Upstairs Bathroom

Nice Rotting Heater and Earth Cables Next to Shower -- SAFE.. I think NOT

    Sinking Floor

Sons Old Room - Now Our Room

Most of the work had been done now and I shall post more pictures tomorrow. but its been a long night writing and getting poctures from Photobucket.

I've been sitting here for a long time now...

fucking hell, lot of stuff to get done in there! Good luck with all that. Thankfully i've never had to deal with council houses, and thank god I don't if they let them get into that kind of state

The person that lived in the house before my partner,
was disabled and couldn't do anything..
so her son butchered the wall so that she could
wheel herself to the kitchen from the living room were she slept.

    Update. 25/10/09

Get yourself a Brew and biscuits.

I shall let the pictures do most of the talking, but write were needed.

    Firstly, Daughters Bedroom

  • Sanded Window Ledge + Skirting
  • Entrance to bathroom Blocked + Plastered
  • Re-plastered wall
  • Awaiting Flooring
  • Now painted Candy Love/PINK Daughters Choice
  • Skirting + Ledge Painted Gloss White (I Think)

    The Re-Plastered Wall

Also this room has become the easy storage place as there is so much space.
The TV, Mirror, Pictures and other amounts of junk in the next couple of pictures have been dumped here from various places throughout the house and garden.

    Son’s Room:

  • Filled Holes
  • Sanded Skirting, Window Ledge & Holes
  • Painted Green
  • Two Mattresses on the floor…
He and his little sister both thought it was a great idea to jump and Swing on the Bunk bed. - Unfortunately not, As she jumped off and he was on top. He went straight through the Top Bunk - Scared Himself to say the least

    Our Bedroom:

Wasn’t much to do in here really, although it took 7 coats of the Magnolia to cover the Blue walls.
  • Holes Filled
  • Sanded Skirting, Window Ledge & Holes
  • Painted Magnolia
  • Ledge + Skirts Painted Gloss White
  • General Tidy

    The Bathroom:

  • Chair For Disability shower - Taken out
  • Flooring ripped up
  • Entrance to Daughter’s Bedroom Blocked + Plastered
  • Re-located + Replaced the Radiator
  • New Pipe Work & Water Tank In Cupboard Behind Shower
  • New Bath fitted
  • New Flooring
  • New Matching Tiles Were needed
  • Major Cleaning after work done

    Results:

    Floor:

    Shower:

This is were the Radiator was:

    Suite:

    Pipe Work:

    Lastly The Living room.

I wasn’t Going to Re-Plaster everywhere in this room as the only thing that needed it really badly was the walkway through to the kitchen, plus its not out house.

  • Filled Picture Holes
  • Cut Away the rest of the broken wall
  • Put up Stud Wall
  • Plaster Board was then applied
  • Plastered
  • New Coving
  • New Skirting Board
  • Sanded Walls, Skirting + Ledge
  • Painted Magnolia
  • Painted Wood Gloss White
  • Awaiting More Paint For Coving

I think that brings us up to date, roughly.

Still a load of things to do though

  • Sanding Stairwell
  • Flooring On Stairs
  • Paint Halls
  • New Flooring throughout
  • New Furniture - Lots Of It!
  • Daughter Gets Our Big Bed
  • We Get King/Queen Bed
  • Son Get Daughters Bed, As his room isn’t that big
  • Daughter Needs Flooring - As funny as that sound

I also Called out the Housing company to complain some more. -- As I’m Very Persistent

We are now getting a new front door - my response… BONUS!!

    That’s All for now.

    Enjoy

    Karlos

Christ! That was in a bit of a state to say the least. Can't believe they let your partner move in without bothering to renovate between tennants!

Looks much better now though - the plan to get it as fixed as possible with the council / housing association to pay as much as possible, then look at buying it off them?

    Update 14.11.09

As you guys all know we have been waiting for a Swap to come up. But it does not seem that we are having any luck and we have been on there for about 2 Years a Couple and my partner was on there before on her own.

So the plan now is to just stay here until we can get this house mortgaged and then hope for R.A.F. Married Quarters, but im not going in yet as for Wages.

At the beginning of next year the List below will be getting done.

    Living Room:
  • Carpeted
  • Flat TV + Gadgets possibly Wall Mounted
  • Feature Wall (Papered)
  • Corner Sofa
  • New Curtains
  • New Lighting

    Kitchen:
  • Re-Paint
  • Tiled Flooring
  • New Washing Machine (Old One Died Yesterday)
  • Storage Cupboard knocked through
  • Generally modernize

    Hallway, Stairs and Landing:
  • Re- carpeted

    Our Room:
  • Re-Carpet
  • New Bed
  • New Mattress
  • New Storage Units
  • Small Flat TV (Sky Linked)

    Daughter’s Room:
  • Storage Units
  • Toy Boxes
  • Small DVD TV For Movies
  • New Bed
  • Shoe Rack
  • Dark Blinds

    Son’s Room:
  • New Bed
  • Storage Units
  • Dark Blinds
  • Small DVD TV For Movies
  • Toy Box
  • Shoe Rack
  • Mirror

  • Inquire about a Garage opposite the house.
  • Once We have a garage we will try and buy the house
  • Once we have a mortgage and are married we will get married Quarters If/When I Join The RAF and rent our house out to pay mortgage and small bills

Sounds like a good plan to me

    Karlos
