Anyone noticed windows is rather slow at downloading files?
I have two servers running on my network. Old Ubuntu linux server and a new Windows Home Server. Downloading the same file gets drastically different results.
On Linux it will jump straight to 3.5MiB/s then move between this and up to around 5MiB/s
On Windows it will creap up to around 1.5MiB/s but then fluctuate up and down to 0.5MiB/s
I've also seen these poor speeds on another wired machine in the house
Any ideas how to speed up windows?

well its going to be something OS based as even a 100% clean install with no other software does it.

Where are you downloading from?
The only thing I can think of is that IE opens a default of 3 maximum connections to a site, whatever browser you are using on linux might not.
If you are using IE try another browser to try and narrow it down first of all.

I mostly use wget on ubuntu so tried wget for windows but it also showed poor results.
