Seems more likely he will go to Barca next summer, with a fee of well over £30m being mentioned. I know in the summer his wife was pressuring him to leave as she isnt happy on Merseyside (Ive actually heard she doesnt live here full time any more), but Rafa persuaded him to stay for one more year.
I'll be gutted to see him leave, as on his day the guy is immense, however if we can get big money for him (as long as its given to Rafa and not paid off the debt alla Alonso) or even better money + player deal then it could be a great bit of business.

tbh given what people are costing its not a bad price, especially for a team like Barca who would really benefit from his defensive play.

Doesn't matter how much you get for him imo, would be extremely silly.

It would be, but if his missus wants away and refuses to live here, and they have just had their first kid, what can you do about it?
Best bet is get as much as you can and hope we can spend it on two decent £15m+ players.

Tell him to stop being such a gay and get out from underneath his missus' thumb

Liverpool are falling to pieces. Everyone wants to play in Spain again now.

Not sure what can be done about it though. The Spanish clubs have the big money to spend. Even the teams that have the big money to spend over here then have the high tax issues to contend with when it comes to players wages. Plus the weather is much much better in Spain!

Exactly, its what I was going on about in the Scotland thread, big name players are beginning to move away from the PL as the wages/tax they can get over in Spain is much better than here, plus the general way of life is right up there.
English game is on its way down and the European is on its way up.

It only takes one player to change all that though, Ronaldo started this shift IMO.
Shit really.

Ronaldo was a huge loss for the league itself, he is probably the biggest footballer 'brand' in the world and was a great marketing tool for the league.
