Would phase 1 cams or phase 2 cams be better??
Phase 1 : Powerband 2000-6500
Phase 2 : Powerband 2500-7000

Phase 1 mate deffo; thats if your using standard management and no carbs/throttlebody setup.
If you are and going down different management then a greater powerband would be more beneficial. if not it will just run like crap to be fair.

phase 1, and whilst the engines apart get the crank lightened and balanced, it will help with get the engine into the powerband much easier as otherwise your powers not coming along until 2k rpm

Wile the engine is apart? Changing cams is hardly striping the engine to get the crank out you wil basicaly be doing a full rebuild.

you'll need to drop the gearbox out the car so that you can pull the crank,

If you have the inlet and exhaust already would it not be worth going the extra mile.
Fit ARPs
Lightened Flywheel.
Get the ECU chipped\mapped so the rev limit is raised to 7000rpm
Get phase 2 cams?

if your going to do the full hog then there are a lot of things you can do for not stupid money.
SBD sell light weight flywheels or you can get a lightened one from Warren G for not much less than a SBD one
head can be re worked, ask a local machine shop or a local garage known for doing tuning
get the crank/pistons/rods/front pulley/new flywheel sent off to a machine shop to be fully ballanced and the crank lightened
set of cams depends on what you want.
ARP rod bolts so you can raise the rev limit to get the best out of your power box
re map to sute.
then have fun lol
