do i need to take the cams out as they are slightly blocking the holes to get to the head bolts...

Yes. Dnt mix cam caps up tho. And buy a haynes manual.

i have a hayes manual but it doesnt say anything about removing cams to remove the head just my torx bit wont fit in the gaps because the cams in the way

you dont have to. unless you have some serious chunky torx bits then it might make your life easier. I never have taken the cams out when taking the head off and never plan to.

each to their own, when i take head off its because im rebuilding the engine for someone, porting the head or putting on shelf for stock

obviously if your doing that then you might aswell take them out lol. I just assumed you meant you were doing the head gasket not sure why.

thanks guys i just got myself a set of long torx bits torx55 it was
burnt hole on number 2 to water must of been a dodgey gasket
