are all the f18 gearboxes the same fitment as the f20 / f23 all all the f boxes the same.

All vauxhall boxes have an "f" in front of them.They are not all the same fitment.

Dont ask me what the "f" means though.

No they don't. F means front wheel drive, cunningly the rear wheel drive ones are designates with an R.

Big block gearboxes like the F18, 20 and 28 fit big block engines like the C20XE. Small block gearboxes like the F10 and 16 fit small block engines like the C16XE.

Dosnt the Lotus Carlton(RWD) use a ZF gearbox??

Because it's a complete and utter bodge of a AWD system using an FWD gearbox and a transfer box attached to the offside output of the gearbox.

ZF are a manufacturer like Getrag who make the F28.
