Hi all!
Some of you may have read portions of this on allcorsa, if so, my apologies

This is my 1996, Atlantis blue, five door, premier, Vauxhall, Corsa B, project thread.

Only joking! Although if I had the money after doing this photochop I would be tempted!

I was given the car by my aunt who didn't want to spend the money to put it through the MOT. A new exhaust couple of tyres and a good ole clean (all done by my Dad and I) saw it through with just an advisory for the blowing exhaust.
A quick (free!) trip to kwikfit saw that fixed.

Another job on the list is to fit new rear shocks (which I still need to source) as they are shot!

First job was wiring the speakers that were in the parcel shelf properly. When I got the car they were both wired to the drivers door speaker. Next I fitted both main door speakers and tweeters. So we went from effectively 1 speaker to 6!

Then I added a new stereo as the old one wasn't working only to find it was the ignition switch which wasn't working! Oh well, new switch and all was well musically... apart from the gf's Westlife CD's in the glove box!

Then a much needed mod... mirrored sun visors passenger and driver!

And a cigarette lighter, although I haven't figured where I'm going to wire that in yet! Suggestions on a postcard.

I decided that the mutant speakers were a bit loud (visually) for my tastes so they were sprayed black. While at Halfrauds I decided to spend more money on de-rusting.

First up were the wiper arms, sanded de-rusted, primed, painted and refitted!

Then hand sanding the bonnet, de rusting, priming, painting then it decided to rain (sigh).

To the people who are wondering whether it is worth it... if this was the summer it would have been finished a couple of weeks ago (and possibly had many a bug in-tombed in it).
I can't recommend doing it in this weather, due to the cold and rain, plus if you work 6 days a week like myself there is no daylight!
If you have plenty of time, a warm dry lit garage, patience and don't mind to much about the finish go for it, it'll look better than the rust. (imho)
Also if you're going to hand sand it like I did, use a sanding block and be prepared to spend a long time on it. I believe you would be better off with a grinder from what I've read.

Underside of the bonnet derusted, painted and lacquered

The beast that lays beneath... 1.4 8v

The un-finished bonnet

Needs a bit of a light sand and then a couple of coats of blue before lacquering.

Another note about the bonnet, I should have filled the pitting in after I'd sanded it back to bare metal but hey-ho.

New visors, passenger side is not as nice a drivers though

To do!

Although I've had the brainwave that instead of fitting this lighter I'll take the whole thing out and replace it with one from a vectra B, It'll need a be of re-working but I wouldn't mind some cup holders!

Friendly free stereo from a mate.

No pictures of the mess before but here's the re-wiring.

So I can still remove the parcel shelf, and one of my other crazy mods... first aid kit.

Still to do is fit the replacement shocks, fix the dent in the off side passenger door, fit my new badge... a impulse ebay buy when I saw an Enjo badge for pennies, hehe and sort the ciggy lighter.

So, thanks for reading through all that (or just looking at the pretty pictures!

3,2,1... ready or not here I come...

Your bonnet was sticking out.

Zoom zoom zoom, looks ok from a distance, bit cavernous up close!

Oh well, better than it was... I think.

Nice work on the bonnet mate!

Check the wiring behind the ash tray and stereo, as the cig lighter wiring might just be taped up and hidden behind there!
