VNE and and VNO are two different things. The 787 has a higher VNO which is more useful for a civil airliner

Saw this on the news last night, didnt mention any of these facts though. Just said it was a new plane and it was late

There's normally a hole in the back that the crew can jump out of if it goes wrong. They say it's just there for show though as if it goes tits up they're fucked. Saying that, they already know it will work before it had been built.
