So not sorted yet , did you confirm the fuse, relay and fuel pump are ok.

Well there is no compression at all so whether the pump is working is irrelevant at the moment. Need to figure out why 1 minite the car is fine then leave it overnight and I loose all compression.

Going to check the woodruff key tomorrow, it all turns over fine so if it has damaged the bottom pulley keyway it isnt out by much. No water in oil or oil in water. Going to get belt back off tomorrow to check so while its of will check that when the bottom pulley lines up that I have top dead centre on No.1 piston. Other than that I dont know what to test...
Any ideas just let me know otherwise I can see it getting stripped which is a shame because it really is a good car that i use as an everyday car.

Woodruff key is fine, Took the plugs out and checked where the pistons where and they are all in correct place ( 2 outer ones up top and middle down)
What can I check next before I have to take the head off. And also how the fuck do you detatch the throttle body from the plastic inlet? bolts look impossible to get to

quid check for bent valves, make up a tool, with a spark plug thread on one side and in air line attchment on the other side,
screw into spark plug hole, put car in 5th gear and roll back and foward untill valves should be closed,
attach airline to the end on the tool, go to back of car, listern for air coming out of exhaust
do same for throttel body then you know if you have a bent valve without taking head off
