Hi I'm new to the vauxhall scene and have no idea what gearboxes etc would fit and work well on my car. I've recently braught a corsa sport 1.6 and my plan is to set it up as a rally car so ideally i want something with a pretty close ratio but i dont want to fork out for a specialist built one. So I'm hoping someone on here can help me out..... would a gearbox off say a corsa merit 4 speed fit my car? which other boxes would fit and what are they off? Also which would be a good strong uprated clutch to get and what kind of price would i be lookin at as a full clutch kit? thanks for the help

As far as i know, your Corsa will have an F15CR, which to be honest is a pretty good 'box. You could try sourcing a higher final drive which would reduce top end, but gain lots of acceleration.
Also an F13CR would do a similar job unless i am mistaken . . .

The box from a Corsa Merit 4 Speed would be far from close ratio, and the final drive would be long too.
An F13CR box will give you the following, at a 6000rpm limiter with 195/45/16 tyres:
Speed @ Limit 1st 29.41 Mph
Speed @ Limit 2nd 48.78 Mph
Speed @ Limit 3rd 73 Mph
Speed @ Limit 4th 93.21 Mph
Speed @ Limit 5th 117.3 Mph

Keep the box you have but change the final drive to a 4.53 crown wheel and pinion.
This will keep the revs up higher and allow your car to accelerate faster but as a trade off reduce your top end speed and fuel economy Perfect for a rally car.
here but you can get used ones cheaper

f13cr and f15cr have the same gear ratios. I believe the fd out of a diesel box f13wr is 4.18 if your on a budget and can find one that would be ideal. This wont have such a drastic effect on your top speed as the 4.53 and wont be as expensive.

ohh right thanks for the help. so the best bet for me would be to keep the standard box and try and source out a deisel final drive. anyone one here done this? if so what kind of speeds are you hitting in each gear? notice a big difference on acceleration? just curious... would the deisel final drive work in a 4 speed box? or would that just be a stupid plan? cheers
