I've never known anything like it!
I can't for the life get it to work!
I inserted the disc and nothing happened, a search suggested if it doesn't read the disc then drivers are already installed??
I've plugged the adaptor in and it won't search for the router which would suggest the drivers aren't installed?
Any help before I scream and end up talking to Microsoft who will fob me off saying its faulty?
I know this is common btw, I just don't know how to sort it!

I know you can bodge a wireless connection for the xbox, but is it really worth the hassle or should I just pay £40 for the wireless dongle.
O and this thread is proper juicy bait for the PS3 fanboiz

Thats wierd that it even comes with a disc imo, i thought they would have just had whatever needed in a console update. You seem to have covered everything with the console so could it not be an issue with your router?
How much are the N adapters just out of interest?

Can't be the router, my PS3 and Wii are connected. You need the disc to install the drivers for the adaptor so I can't connect until the adaptor is set up.

Barnshaw is offline, so don't worry.

This may be a silly question but as it is a N rated adaptor I assume that your router is set to broadcast on the N range?

I doubt that it is N compatible tbh. Do you have a model number of the router? Is it a Netgear DG834G ?

Well thats not the problem at the moment, its the fact the disc won't install.

The N adapter is backwards compatible with b and g though so that isn't and won't be the problem.

Ace.
As far is it not installing that is a weird one. Is it still possible to roll back updates with the new dashboard? It may be worth rolling back the updates and then installing them again and see if the needed drivers are installed?

The console is brand new and isn't currently connected at all.

What about plugging it in via cable to get the updates?

Looks like its a common problem with the N
http://nukoda.com/news/hardware-review-xbox-360-wireless-n-adapter/
I'll try the above later.
I can't do that btw John, well I could, but the router is in another room and it would be an absolute pain to lug the console in to there, where the router is sat at the top of a cabinet with the cable running down the back!

Basically that tells you to do the update trick like I suggested
Try the clearing updates trick first but if that does not work then plug the console in. Do all the updates. Then roll them back and try installing it.

I had trouble with one of these the other day. I would put the disk in, but it was refusing to do anything with it.
Got it to work in the end by making sure the disk was in the drive when the console was switched on, worked a charm.

Solution -
Set the console to read disc at start up.
