Keep coming across these on ebay as i'm upgrading whilst my arcade is with RROD people. Are they worth picking up over the the older ones? Not been released over here yet though apparently.

“Jasper” is the codename for the latest version of the XBox 360 with a 65-nanometer(nm) CPU (Central Processing Unit – AKA The Brain) and a 65-nm GPU (Graphics Processing Unit – AKA The Video Chip) on a redesigned motherboard. The Jasper’s smaller 65-nm GPU will consume less power and run cooler compared to the previous XBox 360 “Falcon” model with a 90-nm GPU. This is the reason why knowledgeable gamers prefer a XBox 360 Jasper model instead of the older Falcon model. The earlier XBox 360 models “Xenon” and “Zephyr” that comes with a 90-nm CPU and a 90-nm GPU are more susceptible to overheating compared to the “Falcon” and “Jasper” models of the XBox 360. Overheating is one of the causes of the dreaded Red Ring of Death (RROD) on the XBox 360.

Jasper not Japan
It's just the latest version of the XBox, most stores should have them in by now although obviously you can't ask them to open the box and check (but i think you can check by serial numbers).
Worth getting one though....

After my recent troubles I bought an elite yesterday and the difference in quietness from my 1st gen 360 is amazing! The black controller feels lighter too.
Love it...
Gonna purchase a HDMI cable now

Ah that must be why the power socket is different on my mates elite. Took my console over to his thinking i could just use his cables and the power lead was different.
