....what do i do in terms of insurance? How do i obtain the details of the other driver etc? rear end damage aswell so its not driveable.
Lady next door so it all and is prepard to be a witness too

Probably easiest to speak to your insurance although that might cause you problems with your record.

You could contact the DVLA and try to get the keeper details but you'll still need to know who is insuring the car. This is available to the Police but I'm not sure whether they would disclose it to you.

The same things happened to me in November, they must give you the details of the person that hit you. Good luck though mate, i found the whole car that hit mine and i still haven't had a payout.

I work for Herts police!

for failure to stop crimes, attend your local police station, watford police station will be open till around midnight tonight anyway. Take all your driving docs with you and all the details you have of the other driver

This happened to someone a few doors down. I heard a bang early hours of the morning and saw a van reversing from where he'd hit their car, i couldn't get the plate info though.

Fail to stop isn't a crime. So you won't get a crime number. It's an offence, but it's not a recordable crime.

But in any case you're required to report it within 24h, or as soon as is practicable.

The Police will fill out some paperwork, but whether they'll give you the details of the car's registered keeper from the registration is debateable.

So contact Police, get it all logged properly then contact your insurance with the reg number of the offending party and let them do their thing, making sure you provide your insurance company with the incident number from when you've gone to the Police.

As said above, take all your driving documents to the station when you go, because they'll need to see them.

this happened to me mate.

some idiot ethnic woman hit me in her fiesta and drove off.

damaged my alloy, scratched my wing and broke my wing mirror housing.

i went to the police station and gave them all my details and the reg plate of the car who hit me.

got her details off dvla aswell.

got a letter from the police about a week later saying that because her car was mot'd, tax'd and insured, they won't pursue her for driving away from the scene.

wankers...useless wankers...

managed to get it all fixed for free anyway but that's besides the point.

i have no clue, but thats what it said on the letter.

i was fucking fuming. was going to damage her car as i got her address from the dvla but then thought better of it as knowing my luck i'd get found out.
