Hi Guys
Looking for a manifld for my xe
currently runs a piss poor attempts at a 4-1 manifold
its a cut and shut cav one inside it is very restricting and the exit goes down tio about 1.75 inches due to sum1 making it fit a 1.6 exhaust or somthing i think (I)
all the mods my car has are
bored to 2050cc
power cap
ITG panel filter in corsa sport air box with hole enlargend for a scoop in the drivers morette
exhaust is piss and will be getting a custom one made
car is pulling 164 bhp and 154 foot pound of torque
what manifold is it worth getting on a cost-performance ratio
1. ashley mani - 150 pounds 4-2-1
2. SBD manifold - £not sure but alot i think
3.ebay specail but i hear a 4-1 is crap on a redtop as loose to much low down power as these are for high revving engines
so 1 or 2 what do you guys recomend??
Thanks Ross

I've got a 4-1 Manifold that I've never fitted to my XE to sell.
Massive bore (atleast 2.25 i imagine!)
Shame you're so far away

Is your exhaust a 1.6 sport system???
I had an ashley 4 branch with a 2.25" powerflow system with decat,1 middle box and 1 back box and it was decent tbh.
The Ashely manifolds are ok for the money.Quite a bit bigger than standard. However they are prone to cracking after 6 months.Mines did a few times, but it wasnt brand new.
If your still running a standard sport system i would get that done b4 the manifold as it will be choking the engine and holding it back.Needs to be at least 2" bore.
The standard manifold is good for app 200bhp remember. So unless you plan on going for TBs/bike carbs,i personally wouldnt bother changing it.Just get another that isnt bodged.

no no its actualy a...well not sure it goes from 1.75 at the mani to like 2 and a haff decat rusty bit mild then 2 about 2 1/4 after that to a magnex box...basicly wanting a half cecent mani and then get a good exhaust made for it with maximum gains the main factor
i'm hoping with a upgrade mani and a custom made exhaust i'll make the extra brake to make 170
considering how poor the mani and exhaust is the now i see it being possible because the sytem will not be able to do a scavanging effect
any thoughts?

TBH Weddy your engine is pretty much standard.I doubt you would see 170 with an oversized manifold and free-er flowing exhaust system
IIRC the standard 4 branch should be 2" from the collector as the systems on the cars the engines came out of were 2" bore.

Your manifold cant be that bad if you dyno'd at 163bhp
what else has been done other then the larger bore?
Also where did you get the car from my old xe project had a manifold to fit a 1.6 system and was sold in fife. Possible my old one

get ether a ebay special 4-2-1 or a ashley 4-2-1 (prefere the 4-2-1 myself but its personal preferance) SBD will be a good manifold but will cost you an arm and a leg,
then just get a 2" system made for it dont need much more than that on a N/A car tbh

Unless it was Fad's old one, then it won't be what Weddy has
