We went for our honeymoon back in Aug last year.
really REALLY nice place and would love to go again in the future.

Good Points
-Amazing culture, too much for you to possibly see in one holiday. the sites are amazing.
-Amazing food, everything is cooked with passion and culture. all the food tastes amazing
-Great quality, inside rome I would say its a city which takes pride in itself, the shops are clean, the area is safe etc
-most of the sites to visit are very close to eachother
-taxis are reasonably cheap

Bad Points
-reasonably expensive, although you can avoid this by taking some initiave. If you go during summer time, it will be hot and you will guzzle water. If you buy the water near the sites/attractions you pay through the teeth.
On our second day we learn to buy water in the town and fill up at the free fountains all over the city.
-Summer time is VERY hot, when we went its 37/39 degrees during the day and 32/34 during the evening. All the romans bugger off during the summer because its too hot, which was actually quite nice.
We eventually climatised and got use to it in the end.

Heres a few photos:

Trevii Fountains:

Pompeii:

Collissium

Vatican City

Sistine Chapel (sp)

Castle D'Angelo

View from our room over looking rome:

We stayed in the Rome Cavalieri and wouldnt recommend it unless your willing to pay £10 for a can of coke! its the only Hilton hotel in Rome.

Originally before we went, we was told stories of pick pockets, rip off taxis (as you do most places abroad) but we didnt encounter any trouble what so ever.
hope this helps.

I had an amazing time, like Paris the underground system is amazing, don't judge your hotel by its distance from the centre/attractions, as it just doesn't matter as underground is so fast and efficient.

Get one of the day transport tickets for about 4 euros I think. Can use the busses and underground all day. Hop on and off Or there was a 3 day one for about 11 euros.

The Vatican City is absolutely awash with pick pockets, thieves, crooks and vagabonds.

The rents had all their shit stolen and their passports left in a toilet so at least they are crooks with morales.

Something I forgot to mention, at EVERY attraction, there is tour guides, and they will push like fcuk to get you enlisted.
The good points are you get to jump the normal queues, the bad points are your stuck with the tour guides for the whole of that site and you have to listen to their boring talks.
Its swings and round abouts really.

We took a guide once, and whilst it was interesting in some parts, I didnt enjoy walking around in the middle of 30 people all with bad BO.
