Would worn track rod ends, cause play in the steering wheel, and maybe knocking noises while under pressure?
UPDATE!; Tanvick seem to think theres nothing with with the steering, and its the drive shaft?

sounds like that knocking noise and play in the steering could be your wheel bearings or C.V joints mate.

Hmmm, i'll jack it up and see if theres any play in the wheel, and i said cv joints first, but some people reckon tie rod ends.

If you take it off, remember to count the turns it takes to come off then wind your new one on the same amount of turns.

It would cause play, knocking yes maybe if there that worn. Otherwise the knocking is prob a lose bolt.

It was fine, till my dad went carboot, and he said they was bump's all over the field, so am guessing he's just knocked it, and its had it, as it was pulling to the left slighty before.

Id get the car on axle stands and then have a play with everything, see if there is any play anywhere.
