My honda is a cat c repaired, never bothered me when I bought it as its a good car, and I really cant tell what happened to it, and it never said in the HPI check, or on the documents. How can I find out why it was written off?

Should have shown up in the HPI check if it was properly declared and was an actual HPI check.

If they get it wrong they also sometimes pay out compensation!

there should be a report that you can get a hold of. probably cost you though. cat c is normally the cost to repair is more than the cars value so probably will end up being bodywork damaged

Only HPI covers you against buying:

* A car with outstanding finance
* A car reported as stolen with the Police
* An insurance write off
* A cloned car *

If a vehicle has a 'Category' against it, that means it's an insurance write off. My car could have easily been a 'Category' but it wasn't written off therefore has no history.

I think Chris means it didn't say what the damage was that caused the Cat C, rather than the HPI not mentioning it was previously written off.
