its a corsa b 1998

i would need everything with the engine thats required for the conversion

and either way i would need a prefetional to do either job...

as im 18 i cant afford to insure a 2.0l conversion so 1.6 is the best option.

and tbh 1.4 8v isnt worth the monney to save but the car is as its freshly resprayed under 3 months ago and tidy.

does any1 have a rough price of what both jobs would cost me???

The headgasket job will be around £250 - £300 at a side garage. £450 + at Vauxhall.

It'll cost you more than that to put a 1.6 16v in.

Pends entirely on how much u can get an engine for. I think they go for around £200 - £300 for the engine/loom/box/mounts. plus, it always pays doing a cambelt, Service etc when they engine is out. Then labour having it fitted...

1.6 16v wont be much less to insure than a 2.0.

Engine £250 (at worst)
Labour could be up to and over £500.
Cambelt kit itself is £100.

How much more is it to insure a redtop then a 1.6 roughly?

With a years no claims there is only £30 difference between a 1.4 and 1.6 for me

If you want the 1.6 done properly, you need to consider upgrading the Brakes to suit - the 1.6 16v used 256x20mm Vented Front Brakes, which aren't the same as the 1.4 8v setup.

it would be miles cheaper on insurance to buy a 1.6 than put a 1.6 in your car.
if you put a 1.6 in your car then you have to tell the nsurance it has had an engine transplant so thats one mod on its own then the brakes is another mod then the springs to take the extr weight is another mod. and the wheels to fit the bigger brakes under is another mod. if you want 1.6 then just buy a 1.6

Dont see the need to do a engine conversion if the engine already comes standard in that car e.g 1.4 to 1.6.

Its only worth it if they dont come standard e.g x18xe1, c20xe, c20let etc,

Like stingray said, the insurance will also be alot more than on standard 1.6.

i would do the headgasket and then sell it and buy a 1.6 if you want one
