They are but if think what you would spend on a night out if you went the pictures with a mate. Movie, soft drinks, popcorn etc. Then you always go and have a few beers. £50 by the time you get home, at least.
I've spent about £700 on mine so far, and could probably do with some more RAM when i've some spare cash. I love it!! If you're a Windows person as i was, then you can always Boot Camp it as well.
Looking at Mac Book Pros now but way too much cash

Wtf does spending 50 quid on a night out have to do with spending 5x as much as the equivalent to buy a mac?

Yip installed ps3 media server on the pc that the films are on, then going to the ps3 media server option in the ps3 menu, shows the files and says transcode but then just says no track available.

Gotta agree with you on the Revo John, for £130 that looks awesome!

I download 720 stuff, and use Gotsent to convert it to PS3 compatible then use WMP to stream it to the playstation and that usually works fine.
Have had 1080p playing as well, but only once without it stuttering loads.
Haven't tried PS3 media server though, will have a look at it in a couple of weeks when I get the internet back again

There is a massive chance that's what I was doing, working now, looks to be a much better solution than the last time I looked into this

glad you got it working, I have used media centers, multimedia hard drives etc and find the ps3 the best by far.
