Hi there,

Just wondered, I have a Corsa GSi on an N Plate. Just wondered if anyone could tell us which engine is in the GSi's of this year, being 95 I believe, the later one, has a silver top with the word "Ecotec" on it.

Reason I asked is i'm considering fitting a PiperX Induction Kit, so onto my second question. Would putting one of these on cause more harm than good? Already have a Magnex Exhaust, so would I notice a difference in sound? Not really looking for Power Increases, as I believe you need to do a lot more than just fit an Induction Kit. Not really a wiz when it comes to cars, so was gonna pay to have it fitted, is a cold air feed required? Would you reccomend having one?

Third and final question, read about resseting the ECU to recalculate air flow etc, am I right in thinking this is done by disconnecting the battery for an hour, then starting it back up without touching the accelerator?

1) c16xe.

2) No harm just good, will breath alot easier. Cold air feed would be benificial.

3) Easiest way to reset ECU is to pull out the 2 plugs on the ECU and leave for approximately 30secs.

Hmm, very odd to have the C16XE engine in a 95 model. The X16XE was put in after 1994, which is the ecotec version. Does your engine say ECOTEC in bold black letters across the top? If so, its an X16XE. Disconnecting the battery is a bit hit and miss really, as it wil probably set off your alarm, and it may need longer than an hour. It took mine a good 3 hours before the ECU was wiped. Now if you have the Pipercross Viper induction kit, there is no need for extra cold air feeds as all the piping is supplied in the kit. Normal pipercross induction kits would benefit from extra air feeds like Patrick said.

You will definitely have the X16XE engine, so the Pipercross you need is the PK037, or a BFO Cone. A VFC037 Viper would fit also, depends how much money you want to spend!

Thankyou guys, helps a lot , any chance someone could tell us or give us an idea of where the ECU is located, so I don't pull out the wrong wire .

Its located in the drivers foot well, to the right, ringht in front of the bonnet release. Its behind a panel. I think you need a Torx bit to open it.

Under the steering wheel by the pedals. You have to unscrew the panel and it behind there. There is two plugs, a white one and a red one. Take them both out and leave it for around 30 seconds. I usually leave it for 10 minutes whilst I go for a cuppa just to make sure!

You shouldn't need to reset the ECU to adjust for airflow.

The ECU is self adjusting, so adjusts to the changes automatically.

Yeah but the ECU is likely to pick up some faults so is better to reset it anyway, only takes a couple of minutes!

I'm not a believer of all this ECU resetting either. Its not like once its found the af levels it sticks to them! Its constantly montoring and adjusting!

£69 so u can tell ur mates at the pub that because its the same size as a cossy one it gains 50bhp at 7000revs

or £2000

to PROVE that uve got 160odd brake on tap


id buy it if the logo werent present.
