Right i want to look at a car but it's 4 hours away.

So i can get a lift there and say i want it.

I can insure from there on the phone and it has MOT. But no tax?

What's the rules?

Cheers

If you do get pulled explain you have just bought the car and you can't tax it until your insurance cover note comes through. I've done it loads of times.

Ask the bloke to nip with you to the local Post Office or some where that do motor vehicle tax, get the tax then sort the V5 out.

Can't see why anyone wouldn't do this...

insure it beforehand
ask your insurer to email you a cover note
print it out
take it with you
get the mot cert off the seller and new keeper slip
and theres a form you can fill out at the post office to get tax im sure
