Basically ive wired in an ethernet cable from my wireless router box to the back of my xbox and it wont connect to the xbl it keeps failing on the first bit..everything is on and the internet is working. any help please?

Try automatic set up.Mine wouldn't accept my settings but when I selected auto it connected straight away.

how did you do the autoset up tryed different ports and a different ethernet cable

is that on the basic settings, if so ive tryed that and its not reconising any. It will say network failed tryed turning it off waiting 30 seconds then a minute for the router, tryed a good cable and checked its all connected correctly again.

Do you have MAC address limits set up on your router so that only authorised "computers" can access it? If so add your 360's mac address to that list

As said, check your router settings.
My 360 frustrated me getting it connected!
