Hi,
my brother and I have just upgraded our machines and are now pretty much identical apart from the GPU, HDD and PSU.
My system
--------
i7-920
asus rampage ii extreme
6gb 1600mhz ram
8800GT 512mb
1x 500gb HDD
650W PSU
--------
His System
--------
i7-920
asus rampage ii extreme
6gb 1600mhz ram
9800GTX 1GB
1x 120gb HDD
1x 300gb HDD
750W PSU
--------
I dont have a problem at all, but when my brother does anything other than play in windows his machine crashes.
the crash can happen 2 different ways.
1. the crash will take out the monitor (well TV) but you can still hear the sound of the game, If he is using ventrilo at the time of the crash he can still talk to his mates on that no problem for however long he wants.
2. the crash will cause a horrible beeping noise over and over again and nothing can be done.
all the drivers are up to date, windows is also fully up to date with a fresh reinstall of vista 64.
these crashes happened before he reinstalled windows, which is why we reinstalled as we thought it might of been that causeing it.
any help or ideas

Gfx card maybe? Tried swapping with yours to see if it still crashes?

Uninstall all graphics drivers and re-install the latest ones from the website.

whats the make/model of the PSU?
It would also be worth taking out RAM and trying it with just 1 stick at a time.
