There is a point to it though.

Well it's not a clear one.
£30,000 for a Toyota IQ with a few different badges and a bit of leather?
Read the article then.

Or indeed the article a while back when they released the market research they did before making this car.

A small point.. tax. Yes, let's buy a £30,000 car that will lower the tax a bit.
I'd rather purchase a bath made of papier mache.

I understand the point of it in terms of it helping them to be able to keep making proper Astons but its still gay.

It's not about the tax, it's about lowering the average co2 output across the whole Aston range, to prevent them from having to make diesel Vantages etc.

Motor manufacturers are under great pressure to lower emissions, this is Aston's clever way of doing it.

Surely it would have been more reasonable to not clad the whole interior in leather therefore reducing costs greatly which can be passed on? People who buy astons may well be paying for the name in alot of cases but they aren't likely to be stupid and therefore the £30k price tag for a glorified toyota IQ is pretty stupid imo.

They're doing the leather interior to stop it looking like some 17 year old has got a Toyota iQ and glued an Aston Martin badge to the front I guess.

I think if they made a diesel like the 3 series the whole idea would work better
