Was the new stalk from a scrappy or Vauxhall? Try a new one from Vaux as if your one was from a scrappy as it could have the same problem

But then your main beam wont walk
Stop being cheap and go buy a brand new one.

yeh but its easier than holding the stalk back all the time, and if u can run two cars on apprenticeship wage then u would be "being cheap"

I had same problem, buy a brand new stalk from autovaux or an autoparts place.
