Really not sure just now mate, just reading up on all the different upstream areas to get a better understanding of what you lads do and will take it from there! My uncle is with Chevron and trying to get me back to uni to do petroleum engineering but i'm not clever enough for that chat

North sea's ok, I do 2on 2off / 2on 4off. Month off is amazing. Cash is alright aswell considering your not a million miles from home or in some part of the world where the locals would love your head on the top of a pole

those parts of the world are ace , makes the job that little bit better , plus, the rigs in west africa (not saying that they want yourhead on a pole ) are decent , especially the DPV (boats)

One of my mates works in the Republic of Congo, he was telling me last time I saw him how his jeep run out of fuel in dense jungle & he had to hide in the footwell as he was being stalked by a leopard who wanted him for its dinner until the next day when help arrived.

One of our lads did a hitch with Dolphin Drilling down in Mozambique. Night before joining the ship he was kept in the Jungle overnight in a corregated iron hut. Was given a leaflet on the 4 types of snake that could kill him and when asked where the medic was....... "oh he resigned"
Also had to shower in brown water and when he looked in the water tank it was teeming with rats
Said the security boys on board with the AK47's were good lads though
I understand the crew changes through Nigeria can be a bit treachorous too!

Id never work in Nigeria, apparently they kill the driver thats to collect you from the airport, steal his board & then take you hostage. If the company dont pay their ransom then your just done away with and left at the side of the road.
Theres an Ausie wrote a couple books about working on the rigs, there a good read. Nigeria's airport hijak is one of his stories. He said he had to give a password phrase to the driver & wait on his correct response before going with him & the guy just looked at him when he said it & took ages to come back with the correct reply.......he was shitting it!!

Thats some scary shit What was the name of the book mate? I just finished reading about the history of the North Sea, "Oilmen, the north sea tigers" that was good too!
I had a guy resign recently as the DSV dropped a thruster & went into Dry Dock in Nigera. No ££ in the world could keep him there!!

the book is "dont tell mum i work on the rigs, she thinks i am a piano player in a whorehouse" and the other is "this is not a drill" or something like that, very good reads, one of my bosses has worked with him, didnt know it at the time,
i would easily work in any counrtry, been to south africa twice and ivory coast, no problems with either, south africa is actually my favourite place i have ever been to.
north sea tigers cant hack anywhere unless its the north sea!!
