Noticed today when my window was down that the drivers side front spring seems to be creaking when going over bumps and when i lifted the bonnet to check i noticed the metal cup on top of the strut is loose & spins when you touch it.
When me and a mate fitted the kit last week we tightened everything up and double checked it.I went to try tighten it up again tonight and seems like the whole piston rod thing or what ever you call it is turning with the nut.
Does the strut need taking back off and tightening or is there something else i need to do?

you need to hold the strut with an allen key and tighten the nut or it will just spin its meant to its not a fault

What i meant is where does the allen key go to hold the piston while im tightening the nut?

or i might be thinking of some other shocks it may be a 9mm socket you need. whichever it is use a drop neck spanner for the nut so you can hold the middle bit with something else

Thanks andy now seems to be sorted no creaking or anything.
Never knew there was a allen key hole in the top of the piston which made it a lot easier to tighten the nut up
