hi ive got an astra 1.7cdti sri. i filled the coolant up a month ago and now its low again. ive had a look for leaks and cant see any. is this normal from the cdti as im abit worried about it.

not really normal to empty a coolant tank in a month, oil look clean??

prob a leak somewhere as its not a lot to leak out over a month and it may be while your driving as it could be pushed out under pressure, i'd try making sure all the rad clips are tight etc

yea its a Astra h. spose it could be pushed out while under pressure is there any check i could do on it?

checked for leaks with the engine being hot and cold and still no luck

might be a split in one of coolant pipes, i have had to replace two hoses in 6 months.

Put some radweld in it.

ill have to double check all the hoses tomoro as its getting dark now and i aint got good lighting. didnt wana use radweld bit if i cant find the leak i spose i might have to.

had a look at all the hoses they all looked fine but ive noticed the cap on the coolant bottle is cross fredded, so im sure that is my problem. does any1 know if this will cause an airlock and wreck the engine?

If the cap can't get screwed down then the system wont pressurize which will stop it working properly.

As long as it doesn't over heat, I would say it will be fine.

i wouldnt no mate as it aint got a temperature gauge, hopefully it will be ok. could i get 1 of these caps from my local vauxhall dealer

Stupid newer vauxhalls with out temp gauges it surely has an overheating light?

i dont know mate its sumink ive got to read up in the manual. maybe they were try to save weight
