Just reading through a copy of Redline and looking at a feature on a silver Clio 172 with TB's.
It says Jam-sport do a kit for £2,997 and the one featured has 204bhp, so thats 30bhp increase for 3k Yeah they make a nice noise, but 3k for 30bhp!

30-50bhp is about what TB's will make on some NA engines.
another option is turbo/supercharge

That's alot more power in a little car like that though, standard those 172's are so underestimated tbh

They're decent little engines to be fair. People tend to turbo them to get "more bang for their buck".

thats a cheap price for the throttle bodies, thats for the pedal conversion too.
awesome car to drive, and they are usually only 160ish std on our rolling road

Not having a go at jamsport for anything, just saying 3k is a lot to spend for 30bhp increase!

try tuning a VR6 then, can spend £750-£900 on an inlet an not even get 10bhp

i know, but that car would have made 160-165bhp so the gain is more 40bhp.
then look at the fact that a 2.0lt NA engine doing 200+bhp with bolt on mods its not that bad, they are a well tuned engine out the box.
tuning most cars NA isnt cheap, not like sticking a remap on a tdi and getting 30-40bhp.

would cost you 10k on am xe to get from 150 to 250 and infact a lot more if you paid someone else to do it. Antnee try investigating na tuning in vw world. Will find its similar price. Forced induction makes power gains easy.

As said they are a tuned engine as standard, getting a good increase out of something with already alot of power isnt very easy.
its like the M3 Engine, the only thing you can do to them is Stand Alone management and an airbox. Unless considering Forced induction. Simply because they are already a Very highly tuned engine and come standard with TB's
