seen loads of videos with people doing this in first gear and also when in standstill. what sort of damage could this cause??

nothing really. a limiter is a safety thing for the engine.

just makes a load of noise.

the limiter is there to prevent casuing damage, but i guess doing over a long period of time isnt gonna be good for the engine

It's true that a limiter is there to protect the engine, but if you sat on the limiter for a prolonged period of time or did it over and over, you'd certainly fuck the engine. I would not reccommend doing it at all

IF your Timing belt tensioner is on its way out and you decide to Bounce the limiter you will soon find out what sort of damage it can do.

The limiter cuts the fuel, on - off - on - off on - off. Not good for the engine imo!

Most diesel engines have a limiter but it just stays at a certain revs, this is much safer but imo doesnt sound as good
