Thing is the likes of a decent engine Beemer or FTO etc is gonna ££££ to insure.
I'd say a Mondeo or Escort canny go wrong with a Ford of that age TBH

He's 37 with a million years no claims. Insurance is no issue, hence no 1.4 polos
The car does no more than 3 or 4 k a year, he lives next door to the school we both work at. I suggested an E36 but he didn't like the look of them
