Hi, I have a slight concern. I opened my oil filler cap to put some oil in and there was loads of yellow stuff within the filler cap, the car is used for loads of short journeys. There is nothing in the water or any other problems, so could someone please tell me the best way to short this out, I need a short term fix because I am selling the car in a few months because its to small. Its a 12v btw.

is it using water? if not could just be condensation from the short journeys. take the rocker cover of and clean it see if it comes back

you don't want to leave it for the next owner to find out about if it's the head gasket.
Sounds like it could be as well with you saying "loads of yellow stuff".
It's either condensation or the head gasket, you can replace the head gasket for £12.

Clean it off the cap, take it for a good long blast up an NSL road and see if it comes back. If it doesn't come back then it's just condensation and it's fine, if it comes back then uh oh

doesn't matter really does it? He needs to do one now. lol
But to me, that looks too thick of a consistency to be condensation, the little white patch on the left would be considered that, but that's gunky and gloopy. You getting white smoke out your exhaust as well?

No white smoke, and no oil in water, no water loss either.

Check to see if water comes out the exhaust when the engine is warmed up and giving it a bit of throttle. You'll need two people to do it unless you think you can reach that far

About £40 for a full system flush, using the special cleaning oil stuff, new filter, oil and labour.

No it happened last year in Feb, cleaned it off and had the car serviced around the same time, and it happened again this year.

Best thing to do is clean it off in the morning take it a run and then check the cap after the run
