The for V750 has arrived for my plate I have bought.
The physical plates have been dispatched from fancyplates today.
IF I go and do the admin bit at my local DVLA office, do I need to put the plates on the car as soon as I get out the office? Or can I just wait for them to arrive and then pop them on?

Ideally you need to put them on ASAP. I didn't put them on until the next day (although I didn't drive it) and until I'd informed my insurance. I'm sure there would be a bit of leniancy on it aslong as you don't take the piss

You do not put the plates on straight away.
You're supposed to wait for the confirmation of change to come through before you do.
Edit: I've done it numerous times and always been told the above by various DVLA staff.

When I had mine I drove to the dvla office, got the transfer done, drove home (they give you a slip from the V5 to say the plate has been changed), spoke to the insurance company and put the plates on same day. If the plates aren't available I'd just wait until you have them before speaking to the insurance company.

The woman at dvla who did the transfer said it was fine to put the plates straight on for me. Maybe ring them if you're particularly worried about it....

I did this as well
When I put mine on the car I asked the bloke if I needed to fit them there and then and he said no, you can just do it when you get home so I'm sure you'll be fine
