for the headunit:
get 6 CAT5 cables
make the into 2 long ones with a connector 6" from each end (to make it easy to remove)
cut the ends off the cables
solder the 16 wires onto the headunit connections and face connections
cover in hot glue to keep still
no easy way to do it. Basically need 16 long wires and soilder

so solder wires onto each of the pins from the front of the headunit (where the face connects to) and the back of the face, running them to where the face is to be located. And put multi-plugs (like the ones at the back of the headunit) near either end.
pretty simple really
qiuck Q: Will soldering the wires to the face/headunit damage it with the heat?

I'm putting a carputer in my car and ditching the headunit, it seems an utter ball ache to get sound through the car speakers without headunit and I will have to change the volume through the carputer which may annoy me, also needed a VGA to video RCA convertor box for my monitor.

Chuck an amp in for the speakers? Could have a little dial wired in for volume too then.
