How would i work this out, WITHOUT EMPTYING THE TANK,

Just stick in 9 litres = to 2 gallons when my light comes on, reset the button and wait for the light to come back on, how accurate is this really though

You don't have to empty the tank, just fill it once.

Fill it until it clicks, drive X miles, fill it until it clicks again.

Then you know just about exactly how much you've used and can work it out.

Your way would also work and probably won't be that far off, filling isn't far off 100% accurate though.

I fill it up and reset the mileage, then when it gets to roughly where i filled it up i work out how many gallons i used to fill it up then divided the mileage by the gallons.

Not the most accurate but i use it as a rough guide

When i first got it, i was doing 5-6k in every gear everywhere and i used a whole tank of petrol in 170miles.

I stopped doing that after a few weeks and now get around 240miles per tank, sometimes more

Fill to the click. Drive, fill to the click again. Note the milage between clicks.

Litres x 0.22 = gallons.
Mileage / gallons = mpg.
