If you're applying for cleaning jobs and not getting them, there is something going seriously wrong somewhere.

What is it then? Crap CV, Poor covering letter, over qualified, or generally not hearing back at all.

If you can't find a job why not just set up on your own? If you have the tools and the qualifications just go for it!
Try emailing letting agents in your area offering free estimates etc and low rates. I'm always looking for contractors (i'm a letting agent)

Didn't pay, they were the ones the Job Centre make you go on. They're just a waste of time tbh.

Yep, same here. We've only got two plumbers on our books and it's often a struggle getting plumbing repairs sorted as soon as tenants with lights.
If someone called me and said they do a job for free so I could see how they get on I'd almost certainly give them a shot. I'd want to meet them first and see that they're alright obviously, but would defo give them a go.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I've just moved up to Newcastle from Nottingham after getting made redundant, as Nottingham is pants for work, and now I'm struggling in Newcastle. I'm doing a college course tho which is 2 days a week learning to do stuff in the Tele Comms industry and fibre optics, so hopefully something will come of that. Fingers crossed.
I've just even applyed for a job at Mcdonalds I'm that desperate for some cash

My mate thats in the construction industry (building site manager) had to move 150 miles to Aberdeen to find work after being unemployed for around 6 months.
Apparently its still business as usual up there!!

Set yourself up a simple website and put an ad on gumtree etc = pretty much no start up costs + another source of business. Yeh it's nice to have a steady income but what've you got to lose?
