My trusty Fuji FinePix S5000 has come to it's end , and wanting to invest in a better quality camera this time round.

I've not kept up with the latest SLR's so any recommendations would be great! Prefferably one that comes with lens kit (i.e. not just body) and can take SD cards as have shit load lying about.

Cheers

I was looking at a camera around that price range, then i decided if its worth spending that amount, then why not push the boat out a little further and treat myself. I ended up getting the 450D for £500. Worth every penny

1000d is quite good its what i had/have but soon upgraded from it to the 50d but still use the 1000 every so often, depending on if you intend to get into or not id suggest the 1000d

Nikon D3000 over the Canon tbh The Canon has Live View so you can use the screen to take pics like your Bridge camera, but the Nikon looks nicer (imo of course) and is better quality.

That's not just me either, I read a magazine and they pitched the two against each other and the Nikon came out on top

Ended up going for a Panasonic G1.

Not my first choice but got it for a good price and liked the slightly smaller/robust body and flip out lcd which has proved very useful.

Lens selection isn't great right now but kit lens will do me for now while I get into it more.
