yeah a clay bar gets rid of all the little contaminants(sp)in the paint that washing carnt,
after you have washed the car place you hand in a bag ie food bag/freezer bag and if the paintwork needs claying it will feel like fine sandpaper/bumpy.
there good things to make your paintwork feel like glass but remember if yo drop it BIN IT!!!!

food bag? wtf you should be able to feel it with your bare fingers or just by using your eyes if it's a lighter colour.

yeah a food bag over your hand helps you hand to glide over the paint whithout damaging, and also makes the bits in the paint that need claying more noticible to touch.
it sounds stupid but they all recomend that on detailing would and ive done it and it helps

If it needs claying you'll be able to feel it through a sponge when you're washing it.

i'm not nearly anal enough about cars to put a food bag over my hands.

lubing my car up and using a clay bar on it is my limit.

Yeah you can just roll it or fold it etc and use a different area.

Speak to Rich H on here and he'll be able to hook you up.
