Does anyone know an expression to match alphameric and symbol characters (specifically bracket characters)?

Currently using preg_match('/^[a-zA-Z\'\s\-]*$/', $string), would i be right in thinking preg_match('/^[a-zA-Z\'\s\(\)\-]*$/', $string) would work?
