focus then. the facelift focus' interior is far superior to the outgoing astra.
exterior, normal focus' looks a bit boring, but so does the astra.
i drove a 1.8 focus for a week, was dog slow, so can only guess the 1.6 is crap.

Neither personally.
But if I had to, the Astra.
I've had a 1.6 Focus Facelift (current). Was a massive piece of shit. 4000rpm in 5th gear at 70-ish mph = bye bye petrol (saying that, all Fords I've owned/experienced have had close gear ratios that cause that)
Poor driving position & Poor seats.
Nice dashboard and handling mind.

the 1.6 mk5 astra is dire, shite on petrol and vey dull
had one as a courtesy car when my 1.9cdti broke and just hated it
even if it isnt the 1.9, go for a diesel if your getting the astra or the sri turbo
