Could some please help me here as I am completely confused with what is going on. My engine in my Corsa sits wonkey….
The Gearbox side of the engine sits about 25-35mm lower that the other side, I am assuming this is the cause of the knocking noise when changing gear etc ( and a few other odd tendencies it has )
The mount that side wasn’t done up properly and it dropped massively and broke the drive shaft, that was fixed at a garage, the engine was sitting straight again, but now its gone wonkey again, I thought that the engine mounts only held the engine in one position, or could they be loosened and the engine be lifted slightly?? Can the height and angle be altered slightly? If not why would it be sitting funny?
Thanks Alot!

Any help would be appreciated, as i dont know whether to drop this engine out n put it back in, or if its just generally fucked, and there isnt much hope for it! I thought the mount was either in the right place or it wasnt in atall, didnt think you would be able to change the angle and height?!?

i had a look, but to be honest, i have only recently been doing work on the car myself, so not really 100 percent what to look for, what i will do is when i finished work, have a look and check those threads, am i right in thinking that the engine mounts only go in to one position, or can it be adjusted? May not have been put back straight prehaps?

yeah, to be honest i reckon your right mate, it had a different engine in before i bought it as the engine in it now, has been just bodged in, yeah when the mounts went last time i sheered the 3 bolts through the gearbox in half, put new ones in but they will never be as strong.. so the gearbox feels a little odd! the driveshaft popped out the otherday aswell, so if these are the problems you have had, then your probs right.

i would try this, if the engine was straight and has now dropped again, its worth checking it doesn't move up as well.

okay kl, i will try this, anyone know where to get mounts from and how much they are roughly. i would buy them off here second hand, but want to fix this as soon as i can! also when i get the mounts, it will only go in one position wont it? i dont need to adjust the height accordingly?

Have you actually checked the bolts? Youvemaybe lost a couple of the bolts of the box and the mounts pivoted. If you dont know what your doing then get someone who does.
