depends on the car. if you have a lambda sensor after the cat then yes it will cause the EML to come on.
common in newer cars. normally needs a remap to clear it.

As Ben says, when I decatted my Punto the eml would come on after 100 miles or so, wasn't really a problem, didn't limp it and I had access to an Examiner so could just delete the fault

if you have a post cat lambda it will come on, but you can sleeve the lambda and tie it up out of the way and it will stop the light comin on
