Got my new car yesterday (Clio 182) but it wasnt taxed when i purchased it; I've got it taxed but it's for six months from the beginning of June; does this mean I cant drive it til 1st June or is there some sort of grace period?
Supposed to be driving 100 miles to the airport tomorrow as well lol.
Cheers

If you taxed it yesterday then you should be covered for the month of may?

Also how leanient do you reckon the police will be if I get pulled over?

If it runs out in november its taxed from June - The fact that people who are renewing tax now will have tax that runs out at the end of this month
So you cant drive it till June if you do not have tax at present

to be honest mate, i would say the police would be leniant, just show them both tax discs if they question it ( just wouldn't drive round aimlessly) only if ya got too. isnt exactly crime of the century

It wasnt taxed when i bought it that's the problem, so technically it's currently untaxed and i cant drive it?
Really, really want to take it out lol.
The only thing I can think of is if I get my disk refunded and get it done from the beginning of this month, but then that means I'm paying £20 odd for 3 days of tax (only one of which I would be driving)

Your perfectly fine buying it now and using the car.
Read online on the DVLA websites, also you can buy your tax online and drive without the disc.

I've got the disk, just not sure if I can drive the car because surely the tax doesnt start til 1st June, unless they give a grace period.
ORRR I could book an MOT in Birmingham then never turn up lol.

i think you'd be ok, i bought a sowrn corsa before and had the issue with tax, was a bitch. if you were to keep both tax discs, and explain the circumstances im sure they will be fine with you.. just depends, you could be unlucky!

yeah becuase they give you a tax number that you should display. you shouldnt drive you car till the date stated, whether you do or not is upto you. personally i would use it, but only for necessary journeys... like i said before, not crime of the century. not like your avoiding taxing it..

i know its a bastard, would the post office refund the whole of my tax and let me buy it from the beginning of this month as this would obviously be cheaper than getting insured on another car?
If only it was february

Had the belts done at 50k, 5 years old, the belt service is only every 72k or 5 years according to my service book.
Its a 182 ( w/cup suspension pack) in silver got just over 70k.

aye but i think theres been a lot of belt problems before the 72k mark so a lot of clio sport owners state 36k or 5 years and its best for both belts plus tensioners etc to get done at the same time.

I've not heard it anywhere outside of cliosport.net, the belts should be treated the same as you would on any other car.

really because since ive joined that site ive seen numerous new threads about the belts snapping with much lower miles than 72k and then you get the ones that say the belts have been done but weeks later they have problems due to them going to a normal back street garage.
