Hi all,
My son (much to my dismay) went ahead and had his 1.4 sport converted to a RED TOP.
Yes I here you all cry, "why". 1.4 was an excellent little runner. anyway it was a bad conversion from the start. the down pipe where it meets the exhaust had been welded making the full exhaust short, now burning away the GSi bumper also blowing big time (thanks for that). All sump bolts loose pissing oil over my drive, 3 bolts missing in exhaust manifold!!! Anyway enough the fault I have just now is misfiring,
i should mention my son got 10 miles from the guys house B4 the rad blew a whole the size of my middle finger out the side. So tow home, I fitted another rad and new thermostat and again had to tighten loose
bolts!!! but engine when started idles at anything between 900 and 4000 revs and all over the place.
So disconnected battery for 2 hours reconected now better but still rising and falling so disconnected MaF sensor, now steady at 900 ish but when accelerator pushed back fires and spluttery it has a power cap on again fitted by so called mechanic. could icv cause all of this I tried other spark leads, plugs are pretty black carbonised . any ideas.

id give it a quick service and remove the icv and give it a clean out my engine lay up for about 6 months, ran perfect when it was in the old car but had idle issues in my corsa so just lceaned it out and dried it out with an airline and refitted it and its been fine ever since

check the wiring loom over mate for breaks etc.. clean icv. coolant temp sensor could also make this happen.. but befor you shell out on sensors check loom.. trust me im talking from experiance lol i wasted a fair bit of money. check behind the rubber cover bits on the end of the loom plugs
hope this helps and isnt to confusing lol
