We've been having a shit load of jobs lately where customers are losing channels (Mainly ESPN, sky sports 1 and 3, sky news, channel 5 and sky one).

For some really weird reason, whenever you have a loose connection in your house going to your Virgin box, it'll make you lose those channels as they run down the same frequency as each other (There are some other channels too). Basically, follow the white input cable from the back of your box, around your house and any connection on the way tighten up firmly and it'll sort the problem out.

Bit of a long shot that anybody is currently having this problem, but may have just saved somebody a weekend without some of the decent channels!

Bit odd that the f-connectors are unscrewing Surely engineers should be 'spannering' them tight?
The usual issue during summer is the green cabs over heatings causing upstream/downstream levels to fluctuate badly. The cable modem and STB used to randomly disconnect and lose channels, although the new Cisco modem and Samsung box seem to be holding up well.

Yeah, seen a lot of fluctuation also. Can't go wrong with the sammy stb's, haven't heard much about the Cisco modems mind you. The new HD Cisco stbs are bloody awful, i've been on atleast 5 jobs in the last week where the smart card wasn't put in properly because it's so hard to do!

Engineers should be doing that mate, but unfortunately some don't. The main problem i've seen is the F not being tightened on splitters. People should also be told this down the phone but they aren't being told, all they are told is to switch the box off and on..
