I always preferred Beyond Thunderdome, mainly because I wasn't aware that there were 2 other films before it when I first saw it! Watching Mad Max for the first time I kept wondering when he would get to the Thunderdome, then I realised it was a completely differant film!
Watching Mad Max and even The Road Warrior years later I realised how good they were, especially the chase scenes, supercharged V8! and just the overall creepyness of the bikers. Even The Road Warrior had its plus points, shame the car got totalled and the leader of the good guys was annoying.
So when you watch Thunderdome again you wonder what the hell is going on, not only do you have this town (Led by Tina Turner of all people) whos main entertainment is watching men fight in a giant dome, but you also have the Lost Boys from Peter Pan that he's expected to save.
There was supposed to be a fourth (in the trilogy) again directed by George Miller, but it kept getting shelved. Now I've read it won't even star Mel Gibson, which I suppose is fair enough, if they hadn't kept putting it off he would have still being able to pull the role off. But you can't change the lead
Seen as though its a car forum:

Reminds me of when I last went to America. Mad Max came on as we were flicking through the channels after we came back from a meal, just had to watch it.
I remember watching Mad Max 1 2 and 3 (Beyond Thunderdome) when I was younger, they were so scary!

Can someone tell me at what point it goes from him being a Policeman chasing after those bikers that killed his wife to nuclear apcolypse?

That nuclear apcolypse is pretty grim as well, it would never be quite that bad. I mean it would be bad, but not total wastelands everywhere.

Plus, if it was that bad, there would be no setting for the film as everywhere would be uninhabitable.

Tom Hardy From tThe Take / Blackhawk down is playing the lead in MM4 (Fury Road).
He's a pic of Max's original 'interceptor' XB. Just because:
and another of the Pursuit Special:
and inMM2 spec with tanks and all

Actually, he does have a young Mad Max look about him, still won't be the same!

Not sure where in the triology its going to be set, its got a black 'supercharger XB copue in it so that would make it somewhere between 1 and 2. Who knows?
Post-apocolyptic Prius makes more sense than 600hp!

Are they fuel tanks on the back of that black thing? That's not a very sensible place to put them is it? Or at least cover them with some armour.
These people really don't help themselves do they
