Thinking of getting one for my corsa.
Do they use up more fuel?
And where is best to buy from?

Depending on the engine - may not be worth it. Try the likes of demontweeks prob expensivee but it's a start.

I wouldn't bother, just change the original filter for something a bit better.

One hundred and twenty fucking pounds?!
More money than sense if you buy that. Go down Halfords and buy a £10 bargain basement job, will do exactly the same task of generating heatsoak

No they do not use up more fuel, like nick said, you will though because you wanna hear the sound all the time.
Either look round for a cheap enclosed system on ebay or on here like the viper, apollo, bmc.
or get a panel, and drill the side of the sirbox, i done this and it sounded awsome, later switched to a viper i picked up cheap and it didnt sound as good.
Also in a drilled airbox a mesh sounds better then piperx foam.

I have an enclosed BMC DIA filter, which ironically i got from Halfords for £10 out the clearance bin, i used some standard intake piping i think from a cavalier or nova and added it onto my existing intake piping using a metal sleeve so my filter sits very tightly pointing below my headlight, resulting in no heatsoak, and plenty of noise thanks to where its placed.
Makes my sport sound nuts, and i'm pretty confident theres been an improvement to the performance.

K&N Panel filter, Modify your box, i got keen with mine, made a hole in the bottom the exact size as my cold air feed piping, ran that from under the car straight upto the bottom of the box. Also worth getting rid of some of the restricters in your standard enclosed box. On my old merit the box didnt have to many restricters, but i know that Corsa Sports do! . I found it made a small but quite noticable difference to my GSi,
I have had quite a few pipecross Air Filters ( non enclosed ) and other one, to be honest i found they did fuck all except change engine noise, and a semi decent enclosed one will rape your wallet. Mod the standard box!!

Get a spare box from the Scrappers and drill holes into it. Cheaper and same effect?

Heatsoak is a buzz word. They will be fine once the car is moveing tbh.

Had nothing but trouble with foam PiperX filters on my Corsa B, all be it only a 1.2
Either it didn't filter very well or the foam actually broke down and clogged various valves and sensors.
And the "heatsoak" flatspot was terrible... or the car was just slow
However the CAIS (an enclosed K&N filter) on my Fiesta seems great. And hopefully it stays that way!

That apollo seems good for £120 and its enclosed same as the £200 BMC CDA and Viper.
You get reducers and shit too.

I don't think the enclosed ones are good for bigger engines, they always say due to some mad design it has a big surface area, cone filters will always have a bigger area.
